August 2024 Intake Graduation
It has been a year since our dear August ‘24 seniors entered Sunway College’s Foundation Program, and now we’re watching them sign off the last day of their SFP journey– yes, this is SFP Graduation.
September 27th starts off with a beautiful morning as our graduates gather before the Jeffrey Cheah Hall, dressed to the nines and draped in iconic black graduation robes. Refreshments were provided at JC-1, with delectable finger foods such as curry puffs. As more and more students arrived, the foyer and green areas soon filled with bright smiles and camera flashes, each graduate eager to leave a memorable reminder of this day.
By 10AM, the seats were crowded with hundreds of graduates and their families and friends. The ceremony officially began with a welcome speech by Professor Sibrandes Poppema, the president and vice-chancellor of Sunway University. He congratulated the graduates and gave out the President’s Award to FIST’s Loo Ming Zhe and Tai Yunn Ru, along with FIA’s Chan Chee Ee, Chia Casmin, and Toh Rou Xuan. Immediately after, Lim Cindy from FI performed a stunning guzheng performance. 
The hall then filled with cheering as Academic Awards were then given to the cream of the crop with an impeccable 4.0 CGPA, High Achiever Awards to the high-flyers scoring above 3.90, Distinction to the diligent students holding CGPA of 3.70–3.89, and finally Merit for those with 3.50–3.69. RM13,000 and RM7000 scholarships would be given respectively to the awarded should they continue to study in Sunway as well. Lastly, Certificates of Completion were handed to each remaining graduate.
Valedictorian Kashveeny A/P Punniya Seelan then delivered a heartfelt speech thanking her brother, friends, and lecturers for the company they kept and for enabling her to push for greater heights. This was followed by a special performance by the SFP music students, who performed a band duet of One Direction’s Night Changes.
Finally, Director of the Sunway Foundation Programme Suzana Ahmad Ramli thanked each graduate and attendees of the graduation, wishing the former a successful road ahead as they advance in their studies. The event was wrapped up with a thoughtful video displaying all of August intake’s past events, made by the SFP Student Committee.
As the rain descended, so ended a year full of memories. Be they joyful or weary, it’s certain that they’ve shaped our graduates into who they are today. These experiences shall be their stepping stones as they venture on towards university life. Congratulations, August 2024, and happy graduation!
